The Scout Association’s scheme for Young Leaders allows any youngsters aged between 14 to 18, and who have an interest in leadership, the opportunity to work with Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. Some Young Leaders also attend Explorers, some are completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award volunteering section and some simply help with their chosen section.
The Scheme has a programme of 10 training modules, with Module A being compulsory, and four projects, called Missions, designed to help and support the Young Leaders. By working through the modules, they gain the skills and knowledge to act as part of the section leadership team, and cover subjects such as a Delivering a Quality Programme, Child Protection, First Aid, as well as Leadership Skills.
