Going on a Bear Hunt
When Ripon and District Beavers opened their virtual Bear Hunt to all North Yorkshire Beavers, 150 youngsters signed up, including William, an Ingleton Beaver. The event started with a reading of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” followed by the Beavers being challenged to make a den to go on a socially distanced walk to take photos of the places in the story for their photographer badge.
Activities that followed included making binoculars and a map, a scavenger hunt to find soft toys, making a salt dough bear, a ‘Bear’ quiz and campfire songs, with a bedtime story, “Peace at Last”.
Having slept in their den overnight, the following morning the Beavers decorated their salt dough bears and then used a recipe to make delicious bear paw print cookies. William loved taking part, sleeping in his den and making (and eating, of course) the cookies.
What a fantastic event for our youngest Scouts!
