3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross

The 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross is staged in the Yorkshire Dales National Park every year at the end of September. It’s the toughest cyclo-cross event in the UK when bikers race over the distance of 38 miles, with 20 miles over rough ground.

Settle Exec Members, their partners, leaders and youth members once again helped to set up the event. On the Saturday, jobs included collecting and setting out road cones in designated areas around Horton in Ribblesdale and Helwith Bridge, along with siting road barriers in Helwith Bridge. Jan Wulf trekked to the top of Ingleborough to set up the check point there. Sunday saw the reverse of the jobs and, in addition, a litter sweep, collection of direction signs throughout the course and a general tidy up. As a reward for the hours of work, the event organisers donated £750 to Settle Group funds which was very much appreciated.
