Tom Haigh, Deputy County and District Youth Commissioner, is one of 500 Network members who represented the UK at the 15th World Scout Moot in Iceland. After a massive Opening Ceremony in Reykjavik, the 5000 participants from 92 different countries travelled to one of several Expedition Centres where everyone had a fantastic time completing community service tasks, hiking up mountains and in lava fields, learning about Icelandic culture and history, visiting stunning caves, geysers and waterfalls and making friends with Scouts from across the world. They then returned to the Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre for the final days of the adventure where they were urged to take advantage of being a part of a unique Movement to forge Positive Change in the world.

Tom, who is pictured with his international patrol, soon discovered that in Iceland some rivers are warm, the nights don’t get dark and swapping your necker with an Austrian Scout can end up with everyone speaking to you in German! How about that for an exceptional Scouting experience? For more details visit http://worldscoutmoot.is/en/
