As part of Save the Children’s Den Day initiative, Ingleton Beavers, Cubs and Young Leaders had great fun making shelters in the grounds of Mealbank Hall. Collections of cardboard, plastic, tarpaulins, rope, poles, canes and even tinsel were skilfully utilised to create dream dens with secret entrances, pop-open windows and des-res décor! The younger members were delighted with their low-tech versions but, not to be upstaged, the Young Leader’s embarked on a much sturdier design which then became an exciting climbing frame for the Beavers!

As well as enjoying the great outdoors, such creative adventure was a superb opportunity for social interaction, child led learning and development. What’s more, the money raised will enable Save the Children to help children in need in 120 countries world-wide to have a safe place to shelter and the things they need to grow up healthy and happy.
