The Scout Association recognises the achievements of its volunteers in a variety of ways from simple local ‘Thank You’s’ to St George’s Day national awards. We are pleased to report that this month Sue Haddrill has been awarded The Silver Wolf, Scouting’s highest award, which is the unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout, given only for service of a most exceptional nature.
Sue has responded by saying, “I am deeply honoured and proud to have even been considered for such a prestigious award. I cannot quite believe the news and have to keep re-reading the letter to make sure it’s not a dream!
This award does not only recognise my achievements, it also highlights the excellent contribution of all the Scout members, young and old, whom I have worked with over the last thirty years. Without their support, I would not be in this happy position today. The varied opportunities, the friendships formed, the fun and the sense of achievement gained from Scouting have all shaped my life, and this award is the icing on the cake! Thank you!”
